...feel like they get next to nothing out of church when they are responsible for caring for a tiny person?? We attended two worship services each of the last two weekends; I skipped large portions of all four of them to breastfeed, and there are other parts that are total blanks in my memory because I was entertaining Little Bit.
I now understand the need for nurseries.
Here's hoping any of y'all who attend worship services this weekend have access to childcare and are able to get your spiritual nourishment on!
PS Click here for an Orthodox Jewish view on the theological meaning of the sacrifices we make for our kids--like missing out on worship! I'm all about minimizing the harmful sacrifices and maximizing self-care so that motherhood doesn't become martyrdom (in other words: yay nurseries!), but this is an interesting take on how sacrifice can connect us to God.
